About Cosmetic Injectables
Cosmetic injections take just a few minutes to perform and provide nearly instant results, making them the go-to anti-aging treatment for many of our clients today. With the ability to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles and restore youthful volume to the skin, these treatments run the gamut in terms of helping our patients meet their aesthetic goals. With a broad variety of formulations to choose from, we are able to customize our treatments to address a patient's specific needs and desired results.
At Aesthetic Specialty Centre, we have practiced safe and effective cosmetic injection treatments for many years. Our experience and expertise allow us to deliver highly-effective, long-lasting results to all of our patients. Our injectors are also trainers for Allergan and Galderma dermal fillers and neurotoxins, exemplifying our commitment to deliver the highest level of knowledge and care to our own patients.
Aesthetic Specialty Centre now offers Kybella injections, which effectively eliminate submental fat under the chin to restore a youthful facial profile.
Neuromodulators
Neuromodulators smooth away facial lines by relaxing the muscles that form them. These treatments are commonly used for horizontal lines on the forehead, vertical lines between the eyebrows (frown lines) and fine lines that form in the outer corners of the eyes, known as crow's feet. Neuromodulators typically last 3-4 months before a touch-up procedure is needed to maintain positive results.
At Aesthetic Specialty Centre, we offer the following neuromodulators for our patients:
Botox
This prescription medication was the first neurmodulator to be introduced for cosmetic purposes. The medication has also been used in the medical realm for many years to treat cervical dystonia, uncontrollable eye twitching and problems with the muscles controlling the eye. More recently, Botox has been used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), chronic migraines and bladder control issues. When used as a cosmetic treatment, Botox is injected directly into the facial muscle, relaxing the muscle without inhibiting the patient’s ability to make natural facial expressions.
Botox is the first and only FDA approved treatment to temporarily improve moderate to severe lateral canthal lines (commonly called crow’s feet) and glabellar lines in adult patients 18-65 years of age. Botox cosmetic is administered by a healthcare professional as a simple, nonsurgical treatment that is injected into the muscle. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles for a temporary period of time usually lasting 3-4 months. This will reduce muscle activity in the treated area therefore decreasing unwanted lines and furrows. Seek consultation with one of our experts to help you choose the ideal treatment.
Dysport
This neuromodulator was approved by the FDA in 2009, offering patients another option in anti-aging injections.
Dysport is a neuromuscular blocking agent indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines associated with the movement of the procerus and corrugator muscles in adult patients less than 65 years of age. Seek consultation with one of our experts to help you choose the ideal treatment.
Xeomin
Xeomin is the latest addition to the neurmodulator family, with its FDA approval in 2011. Unlike Botox and Dysport, Xeomin does not have to be refrigerated, which makes distribution of the medication more convenient. There are also no additives in the Xeomin formulation, making it a good choice for patients with some sensitivities. The pure solution may also prevent patients from building up an immunity to the medication over time.
What is the difference between Botox and Dysport
Both Botox and Dysport are wrinkle relaxers. Botox was FDA approved in the United States for treatment of the glabellar lines in 2002 and the crow’s feet in 2013. Dysport, although most popular in Europe, was FDA approved in the United States in 2009. Botox typically takes 3-5 days to begin to work while studies for Dysport indicate the product can begin to work in as early as 24-48hours. Both can last up to 3-4 months, however some studies show Dysport not lasting as long as Botox. Both work by temporarily weakening the muscles under the skin when injected. All neuromodulators, however, are not interchangeable.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are injections that work by providing support to the underlying skin structure. The active ingredients in dermal fillers vary, allowing us to use them for a variety of purposes. Some fillers are better for creating volume in areas like the cheeks or jawline, while others plump out even deep facial creases around the nose and mouth. Smoother formulations can be used in sensitive areas like above the lips and under the eyes to turn back the clock and refresh the appearance.
Doesn't your FACE deserve the BEST ? This is an area where the education of your provider is vital to the natural appearance of your results.
The injectors at Aesthetic Specialty Center uses the following dermal fillers:
Juvederm
These hyaluronic acid fillers are particularly effective in treating lines in the mid and lower face. Juvederm Ultra works well on lines under the eyes or around the cheeks, while Juvederm Ultra Plus works on deeper creases around the nose, mouth and chin. These fillers offer results that can last for several months before a touch-up procedure is needed.
Volbella
Juvederm Volbella XC is the newest to the collection of Allergan products and FDA approved in 2016 in the United States. Volbella is indicated for superficial fine lines, tear troughs , lips and perioral lines. Patients are experiencing lasting results from Volbella treatments that can last up to 1 year.
Voluma
Also crafted of hyaluronic acid, this formulation treats loss of volume in the cheek area, giving subtle lift to the cheeks that can last for up to two years. The filler works by restoring hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin and restore youthful volume.
Restylane
This filler family also contains hyaluronic acid and can treat moderate to severe facial lines. In addition, Restylane is often the filler of choice to plump the lips offering a natural – fuller – softer – look and feel. Restylane Lyft can be used to provide subtle lift to areas like the cheek and jawline.
Radiesse
Radiesse is a filler containing calcium-based microspheres, which add lift and volume to different areas of the face. Results of Radiesse may last one year or longer before a maintenance treatment is required.
Sculptra
This newcomer to the dermal filler scene features poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to replace lost collagen over time. The results of Sculptra develop slowly and subtly, as if the clock was actually turning back on your appearance. Once the results are apparent, they will last a number of years.
Facial Contouring
Eliminate Your Double Chin. Submental fat is fat that accumulates underneath the jawline, giving the appearance of a double chin. According to the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) as many as two-thirds of adults are bothered by submental fullness. Now, an injectable treatment is available to destroy the isolated fat cells in this area and produce a more defined and youthful facial profile.
Kybella
What is Kybella?
Kybella is a prescription medication that contains a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a substance naturally produced by the body to help with fat absorption. When it is injected directly into the area under the chin, it effectively destroys fat cells in the area. The remains of the treated fat cells are eliminated by the body and the transition between the neck and jawline becomes slimmer and more defined. The treatment can be tailored to the unique needs of each patient, ensuring superior results with every procedure.
Kybella can be use to treat men and women with any skin type and tone. The procedure is generally recommended for patients that have some pinchable fat underneath the chin that affects their appearance. Patients undergoing Kybella treatment must commit to the full series of treatment session in order to see the best possible results from their procedure.
The Kybella Procedure
Kybella is performed at Aesthetic Specialty Centre on an outpatient basis. The procedure does not require any type of anesthesia, but patients can request a topical numbing cream to make treatment more comfortable if they like. The area under the chin is marked for the location of the incisions. Usually a number of incisions are made to ensure balanced results. The incisions take just a few minutes to complete.
Kybella Recovery
After a Kybella treatment, patients may return to their regular activities right away. Strenuous exercise is typically discouraged for a few days after the procedure to ensure full healing to the area. The treatment area may be sore and slightly swollen at first, but these side effects should subside within a few days. Results will begin to appear shortly after your first treatment and full results will become evident after three treatment sessions are performed approximately one month apart. Those results should be long-lasting, even permanent as the fat cells in the treatment area are completely destroyed.
Kybella is the first FDA-approved, non-surgical treatment for submental fat and it is now available at Aesthetic Specialty Centre. To learn more about this facial contouring procedure, contact our office at (770) 393-9000 for our Roswell location or (706) 467-6500 for our Greensboro location.
