It’s that time of year. When our patients present with pigmentation concerns following the months of FUN in the SUN … we suggest BBL treatments.
What is BBL?
The Sciton BBL BroadBand Light is an innovative laser treatment technology that can be used to treat a wide variety of skin conditions by administering broadband light to the outer layer of the skin, promoting collagen regeneration and changing the structure of skin cells on a molecular level. Sciton BBL can be used to effectively reduce skin conditions associated with aging and sun damage, redness, and reduce acne scars.
How does Sciton BBL work?
Sciton BBL treatment is often referred to as a photofacial or photo-rejuvenation. The BBL’s advanced dual-lamp technology provides collagen regeneration to the upper layers of the skin. Furthermore, a Stanford University study has proven that BBL treatments change the structure of the genes associated with aging and alter cells at a molecular level to rejuvenate skin for a more vibrant and youthful appearance. Treatment can be performed on almost all parts of the body, but is most commonly used on the face, neck, chest, and hands. The number of recommended treatments will differ based on the condition being treated and the patient’s desired results. Best results are generally achieved with 3-6 treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Sciton BBL can also be performed in conjunction with additional treatments such as HydraFacial, Rejuvapen, Secret and other customized treatments to maximize your results.
During your consultation, we will help you determine the best treatment plan to achieve your desired results. While BBL is a tolerable treatment for most, topical numbing is also available upon request for those seeking a painless experience.
What can the Sciton BBL be used for?
- Reducing age spots/sun spots and wrinkles by firming, tightening, and rejuvenating skin on a molecular level
- Acne scar treatment
- Rosacea treatment
- Blushing and Flushing treatment
- Freckle removal and reduction
- Reducing the size of pores/Brightening dull skin
What can I expect after Sciton BBL?
Sciton BBL requires minimal downtime as it is non-invasive. After the procedure, the skin may temporarily be red and any dark spots may temporarily appear darker. Most redness fades in just a few hours, and any remaining pinkness will fade over the next 7-10 days. Patients with darker pigmentation may notice mild flaking or peeling 1-2 weeks after treatment. Your provider will recommend a topical cream to enhance your recovery and results. Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment to cover any remaining redness. Most patients resume normal daily activities immediately after treatment. Over the next few weeks, the skin will become smoother and wrinkles and other fine lines will be less noticeable.
